Subject: Saucony Team Recognized for Leadership in Innovation

I am delighted to share some news with you of a very important award that was recently received by the Saucony team.

Last Friday, Runner's World magazine, the worldwide authority on running, convened their third International Shoe Summit in New York. Representatives from the global running community were present for this annual event, sponsored by Runner's World, to celebrate the best running shoes in the world for 2007. Award winners were selected by ten Runner's World editors from around the globe.

Saucony captured the International Best Innovation award for it's revolutionary Flexion Plate. Runner's World editors recognized the Saucony team for introducing a true breakthrough technology in the performance running footwear market. Unlike components in other running shoes that simply provide stability, the Saucony Flexion plate creates a platform that helps propel the runner forward, moving from the heel to the forefoot as efficiently as possible.

The Flexion Plate technology is a wonderful example of the world-class benefits we strive to offer consumers through our leading portfolio of brands. Even more so, the story behind the development of the Flexion Plate illustrates the amazing power of the talent we have working in the Collective Brands organization. The Flexion Plate was developed by a small team of individuals who challenged themselves to create a completely new technology that would offer runners both resilience and response---a unique combination of benefits not found in other running shoes. Tom Carleo, senior vice president of product, Pat O'Malley, vice president of product, Chris Mahoney, senior designer, and Matt Crean, director of product development, were the primary drivers behind the development of the Flexion Plate. "We are very pleased to have won this award as this technology will be integrated into more projects in the future," explained Tom. "The plate really helps a runner get up on their toes as quickly as possible, minimizing braking in mid-stride and maximizing forward momentum. The plate offers runners not just a smoother run, but also a faster and more efficient stride."

In next month's edition of Collective Thinking, we will share more information about the Flexion Plate technology and the talented team who developed it. In the meantime, I hope you will join me in congratulating Richie Woodworth and the entire Saucony team on this impressive award, recognizing their wonderful spirit of innovation.

This team is just one of many in the Collective Brands organization committed to offering our consumers world-class design and access to great style, across our portfolio of brands and business channels. Your passion inspires me and reinforces my confidence in achieving our Vision of creating the pre-eminent, consumer-centric, global footwear, accessories and lifestyle brand company!
